About our philosophy and approach…

We believe children are natural born learners.  They are actively learning from the moment they are born, and they will continue to do so if they are not hindered by someone else’s teaching agenda.  They are curious about how the world works and when they are able to learn on their terms, the whole world becomes their classroom.

As parents and home educators, we have the opportunity to allow our children to pursue their passions and learn through meaningful experiences rather than sitting in a classroom enduring lessons that 'teach to the test.'  Our kids can spend hours immersed in what truly motivates them without worrying about homework assignments and test scores.  

When children are afforded the opportunity to learn without coercion or force, many of the struggles between parent and child are no longer in play, and the relationship is strengthened.  And when families connect through joyful learning experiences, they discover a whole new way of being with each other—their interactions become more peaceful, relaxed, and authentic.

During a Ten Toad parent/family consultation, we will…

• Provide resources and information about homeschooling and Life Learning

• Prepare your family regarding the legalities & logistics of withdrawing your child from school

• Guide parents and children through the deschooling process

• Plan and set goals for projects and learning while adventuring

• Uncover and begin to heal from old school wounds (bullying, boredom, homework struggles, ADHD labels, etc.)

• Ease fears of letting go of traditional schooling

• Assist with strategies for coping with negative reactions from friends and family members

• Offer support and advice for spouses who are not the primary homeschool parent

• Give ideas for solutions regarding options for working parents

• Help develop strategies for navigating learning differences while homeschooling

• Address reluctant partners/co-parents and skeptical family members

• Share opportunities and resources for hands-on, self-directed learning

• Support your family with resources for deschooling and Finding Your Groove

  (Referrals to homeschool-friendly licensed therapists and professionals upon request)

• $100/hour for phone or video consultations designed to meet the needs of individuals, families, and educators

• FREE 10 min. initial consult for new clients seeking to determine if our services are a good fit for your needs

• Refer a friend and receive a FREE half-hour consultation

• Workshops and speaking engagements, by arrangement​

• Pay-what-you-can option, especially for families affected by school closures and polices
